Threadlifts use Polydioxanone (PDO) threads that are fully reabsorbable by the body in order to enhance, redefine and shape parts of the face. They are commonly used on the cheeks and nose bridge in order to bring out a more aesthetic look.
Thread lifts are more invasive than face fillers, so the discomfort is slightly higher. However, thread lift results typically last about twice as long. Dermal fillers are more effective at contouring specific areas of the face; while a face thread lift lifts the whole face and rejuvenates sagging skin to create a more youthful appearance.
Thread lifts can also help give more nose height and a slightly sharper nose tip.
That said, both dermal fillers and face thread lifts can be done at the same time for optimum results.
The most common types of thread lift in Singapore is the Korean PDO threads and Silhouette threads, both FDA approved. Each thread type differs in the thread material used, tensile strength of the thread and design of the thread.
The most common threads used in thread lift procedures would be PDO or polydioxanone, used to lift sagging skin and combat visible ageing on the face.
Another material is the PCL or Polycaprolactone thread, largely used on the nose to lift the nose bridge.
