Dull, Dry Skin

Dull, dry skin happens when there is a lack of moisture in the skin, which means it is dehydrated. It can happen to anyone, regardless of skin type. Dehydrated skin looks dull and can show premature signs of ageing, like wrinkles and loss of elasticity.

More about dull, dry skin

How do I know if I have dull, dry skin?

Besides just looking at the appearance of your skin, you could also try the pinch test, where you pinch a small amount of skin and hold it for a few seconds before letting go. If the skin snaps back into place immediately, it’s likely not dehydrated. If it takes a few moments for it to bounce back, you may be dehydrated. You can repeat this on any part of your skin. Other signs and symptoms that accompany dull, dry skin include:
  • Scaly skin
  • White flakes of skin
  • Redness or irritation
  • Increased incidence of psoriasis, eczema or dermatitis.
